Don Juan Tenorio arrived to Valladolid and stripped of heroism and romanticism

The actress and Director Blanca Portillo has unmasked to the Tenorio by José Zorrilla and has stripped of its halo heroic and romantic for his "despicable" character in the play, co-produced by the National Company of Classical Theatre (CNTC) and the Teatro Calderón of Valladolid, premiered this Thursday, November 6, on stage from Valladolid.
The proposal of Portillo, versioned by Juan Mayorga, has its origin in the rejection of the actress to the idea, fostered over decades, of a Tenorio hero and "spooling" when it comes to a man's "deplorable" which claims to run over the reason, outwit justice and sell to women.
"Sums up everything, now and always, seems despicable," has asserted the actress and Director who, stressing has sought to tell the same story but from another perspective, has defended the care and respect with which both she and Mayorga have tried the text: it is does not detract, they have cut "less than anyone else" and kept the words "above all".
This "contemporary" Tenorio, with a very different aesthetic to the classic any viewer would expect a drama of the time, however a story "just terrible", making it necessary your choice of a performer, a man, far from the cliché of "macho" which turned out to be José Luis García-Pérez.
